Foals of 2015 Oct 6, 2015

WEMKE OTH  (Wikke 404 x Fetse 349) started first with a gorgeous silvery Bene colt.  Very healthy and spunky, he ate, pooped and walked within 30 minutes and then walked over to the gate to flirt with all the girls..typical boy.    He was sold with his mom the first week, and his name is Watte TCF.  They stayed till he was 4 wks old and then moved...he is a dandy.

Breedings for 2015 Jul 11, 2014

For 2015 we have three breedings planned ....Sebeline ster pref. to Jisse 433;  Wemke OTH, ster to Bene 476; and Ziva TCF, ster,  to Jisse 433.  Sebeline and Wemke are confirmed in foal, and we check Ziva next week. All these foals have projected scores of 105 and 106., and should be exceptional babies.

Ziva is also pregnant, with Jisse 433... We look forward to this exceptional foal...

Dianekke TCF makes ster in Santa Rosa ! Sep 30, 2013

Dianneke TCF  (Wander x Gradus x Nammen) made second premium ster at the Santa Rosa inspection in Sept 2013.  Judges Ed Pouw and Piet Bergsma were the judges present and she had scores of 7.5 in the walk and 7.0 in the trot, 7 's also in frame and feet and legs.

She had been in training with Stephanie Schauer in Loomis prior to the inspection and also was being ridden lightly.   She is a very willing mare, nice temperment and disposition.

For breeding, she matches well with Sape 381, Andries, Tjalbert and Jisse 433, with foals from all those breedings having a potential score of 105.  Unfortunately, she is not one of the mares we are breeding this year.  we can only manage a few foals at once!.

Isabelle TCF Makes Ster at ABFP testing Jun 15, 2014

Isabelle TCF was part of the first group of ABFP horses involved in North America.  She excelled in the ridden test, earning 78.5 points, and 75.5 in the driven ABFP .  She was also the only horse awarded a ster at the inspection portion of the test.  This ster gives her mother Sebeline, Preferent, five qualified offspring.  Isabelle scored 7 's on her frame and walk, 7.5 on her trot and 6.5 on feet and legs.

For breeding she matches very well with Bene 476 , Sape 381 and Jisse 466, with potential scores of 105+ on all of them.  Since she will not be four till July, we will not breed her this year.

The ABFP test is essentially an IBOP test, both ridden and driven ,and the score is the equivalent of the IBOP score.

Tristan TCF Ster, Ridden IBOP Score of 82 Feb 1, 2014

At the Lawrence Kansas, Signature Friesians Inspection in Oct 2013,  Tristan TCF, who made first premium Star Stallion the year before, performed a ridden IBOP ,with less than 12 weeks of training, and scored a very respectable score of 82.  We bought him back from Sally Griepsma, along with Scott and Shelley Kelnhofer, to make sure he had the training and exposure we wanted for him.   He did not disappoint.  With first premium scores and an 82 IBOP,  we hoped he would be chosen for stallion testing. With his elegant build, long legs and powerful rear movement, he seems to be what the KFPS should be looking for.   But that was not to be.  We will persevere in another direction.

Isabelle TCF takes part in ABFP testing in Hanford CA Feb 1, 2014

Isabelle TCF,  Sipke 450 x Sjaard 320, has gone to DG Bar ranch to take part in the first sanctioned offspring testing in the United States for Frieisian horses.  There are four mares and two stallions,  all SIpke 450 offspring, taking part in the seven week test, where they are reviewed for conformation, riding and driving.  It is not as intensive as stallion testing, but with six horses in the test,  the DG Bar staff will be plenty busy.

Sad news, Jan Phelps dies in Auburn CA Aug 21, 2013

Our wonderful friend, Jan Phelps,  who has been babysitting our horses, dogs and cats for over 7 years now,  died of  a massive stroke on 8/21/2013.   We will miss her sweet personality and caring nature more than words can express.  Our heartfelt condolenses to her family.

Brechtsje foals on 7.22.2013 Another Colt! Aug 22, 2013

After a shakey start,  Brechtsje's colt is doing fabulous.  He is the tallest colt we have ever had, and a beauty like his brothers, Gerlof and Willem.  Very friendly,  after much discussion we named him after another of the founding stallions,   Prins.  The fact that he shares his birthday with new Prince George is an interesting point. Thanks to a good friend in the NL who helped with the boy names this year.   :-))

COLT FINALLY BORN IN SHERIDAN AT TWIN CREEKS FRIESIANS Jul 10, 2013

After much anticipation and lots of waiting...we finally have another colt at TCF!   Sebeline delivered a lovely little Sape colt on the 10th of July at 2:30 am.   He is exceptionally nice,  very strong and precocious,  walking and eating within the first hour.  His name is Paulus, after  one of the foundation stallions. He is a welcome addition here at TCF, we havent had a colt since Gerlof and Fetze.

Foals for 2013 Oct 20, 2012

Our first foal of the year was born to Wemke OTH Ster on June 18,  so baby Saskia shares her day with the Great Anton 343, Sport.   She is a lovely little friendly baby,  now full of fuzzy foal hair,  into lots of mischief and quite rambunctious.   She is named after our  Friesian friend,  Saskia Meinama, the breeder and trainer of Casper van het Oosterwald, now known as Alert 475, approved Friesian breeding stallion.   Saskia is living up to her name,  sassy and full of life...

Tristan TCF makes Ster, Dam Sebeline is Now Preferent. Oct 3, 2012

We had a great inspection circuit this year.   Ziva TCF, stayed ster,  Inga's daugher, Weibke fan Inga,  made Second Premium Ster in Hanford, and also had the highest Driving IBOP in the country....!  Congrats to Jill and Doyle Beasley of New Mexico.  They also own Reina, TCF,ster, who was there with a nice second premium foal...Reina looked fabulous....

But the best was saved for last...in DelMar Ca,  Tristan TCF at six years old, made ster stallion,  got a good second look by the judges and made his mother, Sebeline, Ster, Preferent.   We have been waiting for him to be presented for several years, and with his new owner Sally Griepsma,  he is in the best condition he has ever been, and showed himself off beautifully.   Thank you Sally for bringing Tristan to his inspection and validating the faith we had in him as a foal.

Nanning 374 Memorial in Wisconsin...6/23/2012 Jun 30, 2012

Richard and I had a wonderful time in Wisconsin last week.  We toured Lambeau Field in Green Bay, and then attended the Memorial Ceremony on the 23rd.  That day was clouded by the notice that Jan Engelsma had died in Oudimirdum, Friesland that morning.  He was a wonderful ambassador for the Friesian h,orse in the US, and will be missed forever by the many friends he has made here.  Our deepest sympathy and love goes out to his whole family.

We toured the state of Wisconsin from top to bottom and side to side.  We visited the Markeys, and Kris & Terry Fulweiler, as well as the Kelnhofers at Fenway Farms.  we are very jealous of all the green space.  It is always wonderful to have time with the friends we have made in the Friesian world.

One of the absolute HIGHLIGHTS of this visit was our ability to meet, wash, pose with, RIDE and just spend time with Anton 343 Sport.   Sire of two of our  Ster mares, he is an iconic horse in the friesian world, and now in retirement at Fenway Farms.   He was all I expected him to be...a wonderful, gentle ambassador of the breed.   He turned 20 on June 18, right before we got there.  It was heartwarming to see him turn it on when he heard the  crowd cheer for him...a true Champion.

Foals Expected for 2012 Feb 3, 2012

We have only two foals expected this year,   Sebeline is bred to Meinse 439,  a Heinse son. We had a filly from him last year out of Lyra , Ster, and she is gorgeous.  We expect his foal with Sebeline to be even nicer.

Wemke OTH, Ster is bred to new approved stallion Wybren 464.  We expect this foal to be very nice, and will be full papered.  Wybren is Feike 395's first approved son.

ZIVA TCF Reserve Champion in Santa Rosa! Oct 3, 2011

After several months in Petaluma at Annika Leets barn, Winecountry Sport horse, Ziva attended her second attempt at inspection.   She was well behaved, and apparently impressed the judges,  Jan Hendricks and Edward Pouw enough to be second premium, and Reserve Champion Mare.   She was in a class of mares repeat for star, and they all made star.  The champion was also an Anton mare, out of a model mare, very beautiful also, and if you have to lose to someone, then it should be a very good horse.

First Foal of 2010....Filly....Meinse x Anton May 22, 2010

After much anticipation,  and about two weeks of sleepless nights, watching the monitor....Lyra foaled on Saturday afternoon.  Unremarkable birth, no complications...beautiful Meinse filly.  No name yet...She was remarkably quick to stand and nurse.  Vet check assures us she is fine, and she and Mom are hanging out, waiting for this winter weather to go away.

While she was being born,  all the other horses lined up at the fence.  They are far enough away to not be able to see, but they know what is going on.  After she was totally out of mom, she whinnied...and all the rest of the herd whinnied back.  They are so amazing.

Cally Matherly visits! Feb 21, 2010

We had the distinct pleasure of having Noted Friesian photographer, Cally Matherly spend a night with us on our way to the stallion testing in Hanford.  It was a rainy gloomy day, but she insisted on going out for a bit to shoot some pictures of our muddy horses.  I will put some of them up pretty quick.

Stallion Show in Leeuwarden a big sucess Jan 17, 2010

We had a wonderful time in the NL for the 2010 stallion show despite the snow and very cold weather.  The country is apparently not used to lots of snow and it caused major road issues.  We were hampered a bit in our desire to visit farms.  If they were not on a main road, it was like driving thru a snow field.  But it was a great adventure!  We really were not stopped from going out, and had a wonderful time.

Fhana Board Elections Jan 1, 2010

I am running for the FHANA Board of Directors this year. I am currently the president and was the treasurer last year.  My term is up in February, and there are still many things that are not finished.  Our current board works well together, and has accomplished much in the past two years.  We have brought continuity to the office and staff, put on two sucessful shows..on both sides of the country, implemented a new computer system and website that is both beautiful and user friendly.  We are entering the third year that Stallion testing has occured in the USA.  Our relations with the KFPS have never been better.  We have taken over much more of the administrative work from their office, so our members receive their papers in record time.

My husband Richard and I have a small foal raising operation in Northern California.  We do not breed unapproved stallions, broker horses,  own an approved stallion, or make our living from our horses.   We support the KFPS breeding goals,  and strive to improve the KFPS Friesian horse within those goals.   I would appreciate your vote...and am available to answer any questions you may have.  thank you....Beth Sharp

Reno Show a Huge Sucess! Oct 10, 2009

The FHANA 25th Anniversary Convention held in Reno NV in Oct 2009 was a huge sucess.   Much thanks to Scott Kelnhofer for heading up the committee that took on this task.. We had more horses, more people, more approved stallions in one place than has ever happened with Friesians in the USA.  Our volunteers are fabulous and we cannot thank them enough.

Inga Makes Model at Reno Anniversary Show Oct 9, 2009

Inga,  our mare Sebeline's daughter from Anton 343 Sport,  made KFPS Model at the Anniversary Celebration Show in Reno Nevada, in October 2009.  She has been a first premium mare every time she was presented, has an 84.6 IBOP score,  still the highest score in the USA; and as Friesian Judge Fetze Veldsta said, " She has met all the criteria to become KFPS Model, she only needed to be old enough".
